Tim has coached actors to bookings and callbacks for film, television, and theater for many years. His understanding of acting comes from over twenty years of experience on stage and on set, as an actor, producer, director, and writer. He has also worked extensively with master on-camera teachers and trained at the William Esper Studio, the ART/MXAT Institute at Harvard, and Yale University. He is a cofounder of Form & Pressure Films and wrote and acted in the award-winning short film Marisol, which was licensed by HBO.

He understands the obstacles that actors face both auditioning and working, and knows how to coach them to their best possible performances. He deeply values kindness and compassion, and brings them into every session.

Focuses for the work:

  • reading TV and film scripts effectively

  • preparing and rehearsing film and TV scenes efficiently

  • understanding the frame of the camera and using it to enhance scenes

  • performing under the pressure of the audition room and the set

  • identifying and removing habits that prevent relaxed, open listening

  • improving technical aspects of self-tapes: light, sound, framing

  • working with different genres, styles, and types of films and shows
